This year’s supplemental budget included language from a bill I sponsored to secure $11 million to continue Maine’s Eviction Prevention Program.
I fought for this program after countless conversations with folks across Maine, especially in Bangor, where eviction filings are among the highest in the state. As housing costs continue to climb, families facing eviction need solutions that help them stay in place while they regain their financial footing.
The EPP does exactly that. Since its creation, the program has kept over 1,300 Mainers in their homes and is on track to prevent more than 1,600 evictions.
If you or someone you know is behind on rent and at risk of eviction, visit evictionprevention.mainehousing.org/ to learn more about the program and apply for assistance. Applications are still being accepted!
